Decal Firing Temperature Guidelines

The firing ranges given below should only be taken as a general guide due to differences which may occur in individual kilns. It is strongly suggested that you do a test-firing before actually proceeding with your project.

A higher temperature is needed to allow a decal to adhere to the hard surface of imported china.	A lower firing temperature is sufficient for decals on this ware due to its soft glaze.	Most shades of red should not be fired hotter than cone 018 regardless of ware. Overfired red will usually turn grey.	Pinks are fired to a higher temperature to bring out their true shades. Pink shades looking orange? Then refire one cone hotter for pleasing results.

Designed to be fired to cone 018 regardless of ware.	Fire liquid metallics on both ceramic ware & imported china to cone 018. But if gold rubs off easily on imported china refire to cone 017.	Special colors allow decals for glass to be fired at a lower temperature. (Higher temperatures will melt glass.)
