Mother Of Pearl Ceramic Overglaze Lustre, Colorobbia

Colorobbia Mother of Pearl (Iris Luster) creates stunning, iridescent finishes that mimic the natural shimmer of pearls and abalone shells. This authentic Italian luster is perfect for adding a multidimensional, "rainbow" effect to porcelain and ceramic pieces.

Made in Italy – Authentic Italian craftsmanship for a genuine, high-quality luster.
Simple application – Apply a thin, uniform layer to clean, dry, glazed-and-fired surfaces.
Clean surfaces are crucial – Before applying, wipe the textured piece with isopropyl alcohol, since dust or oils trapped in the crevices can cause the luster to bead up or fire with dull spots.
Recommended solvent – Colorobbia Thinner (#116-608-01), diluted at a recommended 10-15% for optimal flow.
Firing guidelines – Ceramics: Cone 019-018 (1333°F-1386°F). Glass: Cone 022 (approx. 1166°F).

Safety note: Use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid skin contact and inhalation; contains hazardous materials that release toxic vapors during firing.
Professional Tips for the Iridescent "Abalone" Effect:
Highlight ridges – Apply luster to raised edges to create light-catching highlights.
Pool for depth – Allow luster to settle slightly in recessed carvings to mimic natural shell swirls.
Stipple for realism – Dapple the luster onto the surface with a small sponge instead of using long brush strokes to avoid visible lines.
Prep thoroughly – Always wipe textured crevices with isopropyl alcohol first, since trapped dust or oils will cause dull spots.
The final look is versatile: gloss glazes create a shiny finish, while matte glazes are more satiny. Apply over dark colors for a dramatic "oil slick" effect, or white for a classic pearl finish.
