Under Firing & Over Firing
Ensure your kiln is operating properly by periodically placing test cones throughout your kiln during firing.

Test cone monitoring recommended – Periodically place test cones throughout your kiln to confirm proper operation.

Caution: Do not unload your kiln while it is still very hot — the cooler room temperature may cause crazing or crack the ware.

Under Firing Problems (Correctable) -These issues can be easily corrected by re-firing to the correct temperature: Colors look dull and/or are powdery, Pink shades appear orange or brown, or Halo from overcoat is still visible.

Over Firing Problems (Not Correctable) - Unfortunately, these overfiring issues cannot be corrected: Colors look faded, Red shades appear grey or white, or Decal sank into glaze, leaving an outline.
